Therese White-Sears, Class of 1970
I am proud of myself because...
I have successfully raised six beautiful children, have been married 46 years to a great husband, and a few years ago I was comfortable enough with what I’ve earned over my career to semi-retire. I feel proud that I am still capable to work at a high level and I do so whenever I have the need. I have 22 grandchildren and I ‘think’ I have 17 great grandchildren…if you know what I mean.
Yes, I am proud of what I have achieved, especially during the most crucial years as a younger person living in the city of New Orleans. The most amazing years of my life was the period in my life where I received secretarial training at the AEC. It was a fantastic experience. I think of all the things that I remember about my training it was the staff that was important in helping me keep it all together at that point in my life…they were so instrumental. Their instructions and teaching methods were excellent and just what I needed to succeed and feel confident. I thoroughly enjoyed the learning experience…it was truly a gratifying experience as well as life-changing.
Yes, I know God sent Dr. Geoffray here to rescue us for the purpose of being a role model in this life. To me, she was our angel and I consider myself blessed to have been under her wings, for the accomplishments I made since then, even in the midst of many challenges. I was rescued from a world of hate because of her love and other wonderful virtues.
WOW! And, it’s almost 50 years and we are still standing!
Thank you Jeanne and Jeff for keeping a part of the Adult Education Center alive.
