Meet the next three Fall 2022 Scholarship Winners!
Like the Fall 2022 Scholarship Winners before them, the next three adults carefully wove together high school curriculum requirements for half their junior and/or senior years with professionally-based technical programs that lined up with the college fields of study they were preparing for. All three were determined to use education to change their lives and have a positive impact on those around them.
Sage Landry
Sage Landry worked on completing her high school studies at the Eleanor Mcmain Secondary School in New Orleans, while she attended Delgado Community College from January through April 2022. She received her High School Diploma and Certificate of Hospitality / Tourism Management and Guest Services simultaneously in the Spring of this year.
Sage has registered at Southern University, in New Orleans, where she begins her four-year Business Management Program. She chose Southern University for its reputation of ensuring its students gain all the information they need for their chosen careers. Sage also hopes her program studies, skills, and knowledge, will inspire the youth around her to follow their lifelong dreams, rather than the dares of others that often demolish their dreams. The 431 Exchange is delighted to welcome Sage as a Scholarship Winner, with her determination to build her future and mentor others.
Armahd Moses
Armahd Moses’ passion for Physics took off as he saw the value-added of his studies at the International High School of New Orleans coupled with the professional work-study program at the New Orleans Career Center. After graduation, Armahd registered at Dillard University, in New Orleans, choosing Pre-engineering as his Major Field of Study, anticipating a Degree in Physics, by 2026.
“Science has always been the field I’ve been most interested in” Armahd said. “Now it has developed into a passion of my wanting to create something! By going through this program, I will gain the skills to put something of my own making out into the world, and make people’s lives better. Even if by a tiny bit.”
Like so many of the other Scholarship Winners, Armahd has developed a plan for his future, financially and professionally. One of the things that suggested Armahd’s maturity to us was his appreciation for the 431 Exchange’s giving people the chance to better their lives with financial aid, not just to those who go to college but to those who choose technical or vocational schools, as well.
De’Quincy Allen
De’Quincy Allen layered the New Orleans Career Center’s professional Computer Engineering Program and work experience into his Senior Year’s studies at Walter I Cohen High School. He graduated in the Spring of 2022 from his high school also having earned his AutoCAD Certification at the same time from the Career Center.
Today, De’Quincy presses on. He is registered at Grambling University, his Major in Computer Engineering. He says it has been his mother who has inspired him to make a difference in his life, adding, “What appeals to me the most is making new things,” De’Quincy said. “I plan on making revolutionary buildings and games.” In fact, De’Quincy went on to tell us that what inspires him about the 431 Exchange is how determined it is to help transform people’s lives through education, including his life and all the other Scholarship Winners whose lives are transforming in front of their eyes!
