From New Orleans to Waco, from high school to a master’s degree, Mia Robertson and the 431 Exchange have grown together.
We’ve been cheering for Mia Robertson since 2019, when she became one of the very first winners of a 431 Exchange scholarship. In this new episode of Scholarship Spotlight, co-founder Jeanne Geoffray reconnects with Mia to celebrate how far they’ve come—together.
From her high school graduation in New Orleans to earning a master’s degree in sports management from Baylor University, Mia’s journey is a powerful reflection of what the 431 Exchange stands for: persistence, community, and legacy in motion.
Mia shares what it took to navigate college as a science major, the hidden costs behind a so-called “full ride,” and how even a small check or a kind call arrived just when she needed it most. She also reflects on her grandmother Paulette Dunams Robertson, a 1969 graduate of the Adult Education Center, and what it means to carry that legacy forward.
“Without you, I would not have made it through the program.”
While in Waco she was working in sports operation and dreaming of managing logistics for Team USA. Mia reminds us that success doesn’t happen in isolation—it grows in community.
Mia’s story is a testament to what happens when a student with drive meets a community that shows up—and keeps showing up.
Watch the interview and celebrate the power of persistence, legacy, and support that lasts.
