Watch the Dr. Alice R. Geoffray School Dedication & Ribbon Cutting!

The Orleans Parish School Board memorialized the legacy of Dr. Alice R. Geoffray, a civil rights pioneer known as the mother of career education in Louisiana, by naming a school building repurposed for workforce training and development after her. The Dr. Alice R. Geoffray School is located at 1331 Kerlerec St. in the city’s historic Tremé section.

The building is home to the New Orleans Career Center, a nonprofit training center offering career prep and technical education programs for all public high school students in Orleans Parish as well as adults seeking career education.

On July 10, 2023 the President of the Orleans Parish School Board, along with other prominent politicians and civic leaders, formally dedicated the building in Alice’s name at a ribbon cutting in the fabulous new building!
